May 13, 2017

In honor of Provider Appreciation Day, thread says thank you to all of Alaska’s early childhood educators and child care professionals.

Ideas to thank your child care provider:

  • Have your child make a card or homemade gift, or click here for free printable templates to create a unique gift
  • Organize with other parents to create a surprise
  • Give a paid day off or bonus
  • Purchase an item for the classroom or outdoor area

Because of you, parents are able to go to work each day. In fact, 15% of Alaska’s workforce wouldn’t be at their job today without child care. This valuable support you provide for working families also plays a crucial role in strengthening Alaska’s economy.

Not only do you support today’s workforce, but you are shaping the future workforce. More than half of the children in Alaska under 6 years of age receive care from someone else besides a parent or guardian – in other words, child care providers!

The important work you do every day plays a vital role in preparing our children for success in school and life. We know that the first five years of life are a critical period in brain development. During these early years, the brain makes 700 neural connections per second! You keep our children safe and healthy as well as nurture their social skills, early literacy skills, creativity, and so much more.

We are so thankful for you!
