Child care is one of the largest household expenses for families today.
Child Care Aware of America recently released its annual report, The U.S. and the High Price of Child Care: An Examination of a Broken System. The
report shows that quality child care remains unaffordable in all 50 states, plus the District of Columbia, and explores the policies that need
to change in support of families and child care providers.
Other updates in this year’s report include:
- An interactive Price of Child Care Map
- National figures for the price of child care, along with an explanation of the challenges inherent in calculating a national price of child care figure
- Map of millennial salary information and a new Appendix that compares average millennial income and child care prices in each state
- A supplement which features county-level price data for 11 states
- Case studies which examine child care unaffordability issues in the state of Louisiana, the Washington D.C. metro area and the Seattle metro area.
