FAQs for thread’s COVID-19 Quality Initiative 2 & Alaska SEED ROOTS Award

Thank you to the early childhood and afterschool/school-age education programs that have applied for thread’s COVID-19 Quality Initiative 2. thread received hundreds of applications from across the state! thread is pleased to partner with  The Alaska Community Foundation and State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) to provide this financial support to Alaska’s child care programs during the Coronavirus pandemic. 

The application period for thread’s COVID-19 Quality Initiative 2 closed on October 31, 2020. thread will begin reviewing applications in November. Applications will be reviewed in the order they were received, and funding will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis while funding lasts.

Due to the large volume of applications, the review and processing time may vary for each application. We thank you for your patience!

COVID-19 Quality Initiative 2 Application FAQs

How do I know if my application was received by thread?

The COVID-19 Quality Initiative 2 application had a two-step submission process. After you signed and submitted your application, you received an email from thread to verify your e-signature. To complete your application you had to open the verification email and click the link in the email. This final step verified your e-signature and submitted your application to thread for review.

If you didn’t complete your (signature) verification email, please complete it by Friday, November 6, 2020 by following these steps:

  1. Check your email inbox or junk email for a verification email from thread.  Email Subject will say “Verify: Signed Response for Form.”
  2. Open the email.
  3. Click on the link in the email to verify your signature and submit your application.
  4. You will receive an email with a summary of your application.

What is the timeline for processing my COVID-19 Quality Initiative 2 application?

thread will begin reviewing applications in November. If your program application is approved, you will receive an email notification from thread.  This email notification will serve as your confirmation that your application has been reviewed and approved by thread.

If your program application is missing information, thread will contact you directly in November.

What if my W-9 was not attached to my COVID-19 Quality Initiative 2 application, or not signed?

thread needs your completed and signed W-9 to process your application. If your W-9 is incomplete or was not attached to your application, thread will contact you directly.

If thread notifies you that your W-9 is incomplete, you will need to resubmit it. Please follow these steps:

  1. Download the W-9 form here.
  2. Complete and sign the W-9 form.
  3. Email a completed W-9 form to marketing@threadalaska.org

When can I expect to receive my COVID-19 Quality Initiative 2 award?

Payments will be mailed to approved programs by the end of the year.

Who will my COVID-19 Quality Initiative 2 check be made out to?

Checks will only be issued to the legal business name/program listed on the current business license issued by the State of Alaska/or listed on your Child Care License, and not to an individual.

COVID-19 Alaska SEED ROOTS Award FAQs

I also applied for an Alaska SEED ROOTS Award. What is the timeline for processing my application?

Alaska SEED will begin reviewing applications in December, on a first-come, first-serve basis.

If your application is missing information, Alaska SEED will contact you via email in December.

How will I know if my Alaska SEED Roots Award was approved?

If your application is approved, you will receive an email notification from Alaska SEED.

Important note: Your final approval will come from Alaska SEED and is not the “Signed Response” summary email you received after submitting your application.

When can I expect to receive my Alaska SEED ROOTS Award?

Applications will be processed in order of receipt. Applications will be processed for payment within 60 days of a complete and approved application. (See question above.)

I applied for or renewed my Alaska SEED Registry membership. When will I find out if my application has been processed?

You will receive an email notification that Alaska SEED has received your Alaska SEED Registry application.  Alaska SEED Registry applications are being processed as usual, within 30 business days in the order they are received

I don’t have my Alaska SEED Registry certificate. Can I still apply for the Alaska SEED ROOTS Award?

Yes, you may apply for the Alaska SEED ROOTS Award without having your Alaska SEED Registry certificate.
