National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day is Thursday, May 10, 2018! This annual event raises awareness about the importance of children’s mental health and its impact on their healthy development.

Early childhood mental health is a child’s growing capacity to experience, regulate, and express emotions. For children from birth to 5 years of age, early childhood mental health is the same as social and emotional development. thread is proud to help raise awareness of children’s mental health and works to help early childhood educators nurture social and emotional development in young children.

The national theme for Awareness Day 2018 is Partnering for Health and Hope Following Trauma. The focus of this year’s theme is on the importance of an integrated approach to caring for the mental health needs of children and families who have experienced trauma.
