The State of Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) is hosting a free online family leadership training and is looking for caregivers to participate!
This opportunity is for any primary caregiver who is supporting young children up to the age of four in the following communities only: Copper Center, Dillingham, Fairbanks, Homer, Juneau, Kenai/Soldotna, Kodiak, Mat-Su Valley, Norton Sound, Seward, Sitka, Valdez or Yakutat.
Primary caregivers include mothers, fathers, grandparents, partners, and foster parents.
Training modules topics include parental stress, effective video conferencing, advocacy, storytelling, special education and more!
Online Training Details
Trainings take place online from March through April, and include on-your-own study as well as real-time meetings. Participants will:
- Complete 20 short training modules, each taking 10 to 20 minutes to complete.
- Participants will need to complete two modules per week.
- Complete the modules any time of day based on what works best for you!
- Must be completed on a personal computer or smart phone.
- Attend five real-time meetings using Zoom.
- Participants can choose between a meeting time of 10:30 am or 6:30 pm.

Participants who complete the online modules, module evaluation and participate in the Zoom meetings will receive a $100 gift card.
