Job Description
The Assistant Program Manager provides a positive role model for staff and children, encourages the children’s participation, leading activities when necessary, providing a variety of age appropriate learning and social experiences and continually maintaining a safe clean healthy learning environment for the children in care. Prepares and serves meals as required and maintains accurate records as assigned by the Program Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Be a positive role model for staff and children.
- Train staff to prepare and implement weekly lesson plans.
- Greet parents, children, and staff in a positive manner.
- Respond appropriately to needs of children and staff.
- Evaluate, plan, and schedule training for staff.
- Maintain a safe environment for children, and reinforcing to staff to follow classroom lesson plans.
- Conform to all State regulations concerning licensing, following D.E.C. regulations, fire and safety procedures, maintaining a safe & healthy environment.
- Maintain accurate records on children’s attendance, behavioral issues, growth and development, and that children are enrolled in assigned classroom.
- Be aware of children with food allergies and follow rules concerning food substitutes.
- Maintain current Food Handlers Card.
- Ensure food areas are clean and sanitized daily.
- Complete a daily walk, checking all areas for safety concerns.
- Sterilize classroom toys daily as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Have a High School Diploma or G.E.D and a CDA, or a minimum of 12 ECE credits from an accredited.
- Must have a valid drivers license and be able to provide a clean 3 year driving record.
- University or a B.A., and three years prior Early Childhood Education experience in either; center based as a teacher, lead teacher or supervisor, or as a family childcare provider.
- Must have management skills to plan and evaluate our program, participate in staff selection and supervision, including delegation of responsibility and motivation of staff.
- Must be of good character and reputation, understand the development of children and the ability to care for children, and the skills to work with children, family members, department staff, community agencies, and staff of the child care facility.
- Be able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds. Maintain infant/child CPR and First Aid.
- Potential employees must undergo a background check, which shows that their record is free from criminal convictions, which in the judgment for FCSA, would adversely affect their ability to work safely around children.

Pay: $48,526.00 - $51,482.00 per year
