- thread’s Fairbanks office, providing child care assistance for the Northern and Southeast service delivery areas, moved effective July 30, 2024. The new office will be physically open to the public at the location of 542 4th Avenue, Suite 226, Fairbanks, AK.
- The ServicePortal goes live! The ServicePortal serves as a centralized hub for our clients. It integrates services provided by the statewide systems managed by thread, including the Alaska SEED Registry, and training offered by thread. Learn and Grow functionalities are not yet available but will be rolled out in the future.With the closure of the Alaska SEED portal in November 2022, clients can now conveniently apply for and renew their Alaska SEED Registry membership directly through the ServicePortal. Featuring enhanced user experience and intuitive navigation, the ServicePortal enables users to effortlessly update information, upload education and training documents with their Alaska SEED Registry application, and register for thread training.
- thread was awarded an ACT advocacy grant and brought early educator administrators with us to advocate in Juneau.
- In May 2024, thread was awarded a Child Care of America Grant for a project called Bridging the Gap. Bridging the Gap strengthened relationships with new economic partners and connected communities across the state, working toward shared goals. The initiative also supported seven Community Economic Development Study (CEDS) communities in integrating child care into their economic development plans and identified resources, including Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) such as Local Initiative Support Corporation (LISC), to advance local child care solutions. The project ended in December 2024.
- As thread grows so does the need for diversified revenue. thread invested in a focused Fund Development Manager position to grow and diversify thread’s revenue. Elizabeth Klemm was then hired for this position.
