  • Stephanie Berglund is named the new Chief Executive Officer of thread. Melinda Myers is named the new Chief Operations Officer of thread. Sarah Leonard is named the new Director of Marketing and Fund Development of thread. Sarah was the first person to step into a marketing role within thread. This signifies growth within the organization.
  • In celebration of thread’s 25th anniversary, local artist Maria Shell joined staff, children and partners to create a community quilt. Each individual quilt square represents programs and highlights of thread’s history promoting early care and education in Alaska. The community quilt was generously supported by The Rasmuson Foundation.
  • Senator Mark Begich visits The Children’s Place and thread.
  • thread Volume 7 Newsletters.
  • thread releases updated Quality Guide in English and Spanish.
  • The Parent TALK series is introduced – a live forum in Anchorage that brings parents together each month around a topic in early childhood. Parents, grandparents, and family members are encouraged to join discussions about healthy meal planning, new ideas on caring for infants and much more.
  • thread launches the Parent Action Center. This is an online space for advocacy on issues related to early care and education.
  • FY10 Annual Report is released.
