Job Description

Position: multiple Part time full time oncall positions available

The assistant is supervised by the lead teacher and Early Childhood Director. They shall follow program schedules, policies, and procedures as established by the Early Child Director, Administrator, and LSAA School Board.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom lead teacher in supervision, support, and management of a group of children.
  • Initiate and encourage children’s daily activities and independence by helping to prepare the lesson that the lead teacher has provided.
  • Use a Christ-centered approach full of respect and love in interactions and discipline.
  • Meet everyday stress with emotional stability, objectivity, and optimism, looking for the good in all situations.
  • Remain objective when solving problems, looking for multiple solutions and believing problems can be constructively managed.
  • Help in recording and reporting injuries, record keeping and observations, and keeping all of these confidential.
  • Help maintain good communication with parents while being positive and respectful.
  • Prepare snacks using an established menu and clean up in a clean, sanitary, and orderly manner.
  • Help with housekeeping tasks to keep the center and rooms clean and sanitized.
  • Maintain a personal appearance that is a role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and agreement with school policy.
  • Participate in staff meetings, in-service workshops, and programs while building positive relationships with colleagues and parents.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher, Director and/or Administrator in other ways as needed.

Qualifications

  • Previous childcare experience is not required, but is preferred.
  • Minimum age: 16 years old.
  • 18 years or older is preferred; Jr. Helpers may apply but must be at least 16 years old and hold a work permit.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with children.
  • Three references.

Staff reflect and commit to the school’s Mission and Purpose/Philosophy, its Statement of Faith, and overall ministry of LSAA. Staff shall follow Christian principles and continue to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer and regular enrichment in the Word of God.

Staff are role models in and out of the building and are expected to lead by example.

Training

Training will be made available for:

  • Basic First Aid
  • Infant/Child and Adult CPR
  • Mandatory Health and Safety Training
  • Food Handlers Card

Required training must be completed within 30 days.
