Job Description

Joy Child Development Center is currently hiring full-time Lead Teachers for our toddler and preschool classrooms. We are a nonprofit, play-based early childhood program focused on building strong relationships, creating inclusive learning environments, and supporting the whole child through developmentally appropriate practice.

Since reopening in June 2025, our program has grown from just 2 children to reopening all four classrooms within 9 months. We are looking for educators who are dependable, collaborative, nurturing, and passionate about early childhood education.

Position Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities and learning experiences
  • Maintain consistent classroom routines and a positive learning environment
  • Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
  • Maintain active supervision and ensure classroom safety at all times
  • Observe and document children’s development and progress
  • Communicate professionally with families and team members
  • Work collaboratively with assistant teachers and administration
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and licensing compliance within the classroom
  • Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and professional development

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience working with young children
  • CDA or willingness to obtain one
  • Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
  • Must pass required background check and fingerprint clearance
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of working in an early childhood classroom

Schedule:

  • Full-Time
  • Monday–Friday
  • Hours scheduled between 6:45am–6:00pm
