thread hosts an event celebrating the launch of the Early Education Fund for Alaska’s Children, an endowment at the Alaska Community Foundation.

thread launches the “We’re Ready” campaign to promote quality child care. The We’re Ready Campaign is designed to help families identify quality child care as Licensed, Safe, Healthy and Playful. The campaign signifies that thread is ‘ready’ to support families, early educators, and communities to connect them with resources they need to advance quality child development and early childhood education services.

Learn & Grow history continues:

  • The Department of Health and Social Services Child Care Program Office allocated funds to thread to manage the development and implementation of Alaska’s QRIS. In December 2013, the first QRIS Director is hired—Meghan Johnson—who re-assembles stakeholder groups and committees to work on revisions to the 2008 QRIS plan and help develop a plan for implementation in Alaska.

Management of the local Anchorage Imagination Library, a program that provides a new, high-quality book in the mail each month to children ages 0-5, transitions from thread to Best Beginnings after four years of operations.

The Imagination Library is an exciting program where your child(ren) can receive a free book in the mail each month while they are between the ages of birth to five years old. Each child will receive an age-appropriate book selected by experts in early childhood literacy. This great program encourages literacy skills and pre-literacy skills in children. Reading with your child helps his/her brain development and prepares him/her for success in school and life.

thread is proud to support Imagination Libraries across the state. The Imagination Library program aligns with the work of thread to empower parents with the tools and resources to increase and encourage healthy child development.

Best Beginnings is the statewide umbrella organization providing technical assistance for Alaska’s Imagination Libraries.
