Wildflowers are appearing in the mountains, and gardens are in full bloom, providing beautiful splashes of color as we enjoy our summer adventures. Colorful campaign signs are also making their appearance in our neighborhoods and along city streets, reminding us that election season is here!
Remember to VOTE for KIDS!
As you begin to think about which candidate will earn your vote in the upcoming election, we want to encourage you to remember to VOTE for KIDS! Consider the children’s issues that matter to you – child care, education, foster care, housing, healthcare – and research candidates’ positions on these issues. You can often find this information on candidates’ web pages and social media posts.
And you always have the option to reach out to your candidates and ask them directly! You might have an opportunity to visit with a candidate while they’re canvassing your neighborhood or during a community event. Or you can call or email them to ask direct questions about your top issues.
Questions to Ask
To help you get started, here are some candidate questions specific to child care and early education that you can use:
- Is affordable, accessible, high-quality child care a priority issue for your campaign? Why or why not?
- How do you plan on ensuring access to affordable, high-quality child care for all Alaskans?
- How would you help ensure a strong child care workforce for our city/state?
- Are you willing to work on bipartisan policy solutions for child care and other early childhood issues?
- What is your big dream for Alaska’s children?

Upcoming Election Date Reminders
- July 17: Voter Registration Deadline. Register to vote here.
- July 19: Mailed ballots will begin arriving about 3-4 weeks prior to the election. Request an absentee/by mail ballot here. Important! Don’t forget to provide your identifier and have a witness sign your ballot before putting it in the mail!
- August 6, 7, 13, 14: Early in-person voting. Find voting location here.
- August 16: Primary election
