In partnership with the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) and the Anchorage Health Department (AHD), thread is now accepting applications for the Early Educator Health and Wellness: Building Resilience for Early Education Workforce, Children, and Families Grant.

This grant supports early educators by promoting their health and wellness. Applicants may apply for one or more of the following initiatives:

  1. Health Services (Optima Benefits): Access to telehealth, dental, vision, insurance plans, and more
  2. Gym Membership (Body Renew “Signature” Package): A top-tier membership with 24-hour access, bring-a-friend privileges, a success coach, customized workout plan, unlimited sauna and tanning, fitness tracking, and more
  3. Health & Wellness Fair: A wellness event offering health screenings, mental health training, and resources, with a training stipend and training credit for participants

Why Wellness Matters

When early educators are healthy, both physically and mentally, they can be more present in their work, better support children, and strengthen relationships with families. Unfortunately, surveys show that many early educators are struggling. A nationwide study by Teaching Strategies in 2022 found that 45% of early childhood educators experience high levels of burnout. Similarly, a RAPID survey reported that 71% are facing burnout or compassion fatigue.

This grant is designed to provide practical tools, health benefits, and support to help educators thrive both personally and professionally.
