Learn & Grow Revises Policies During COVID-19

May 12, 2020

Thank you to Learn & Grow early childhood education programs that are working to improve the quality of child care for Alaska’s youngest children and their families.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought many changes for early childhood education programs. Learn & Grow recognizes programs may be facing hard business decisions during this crisis. As a result, we understand programs may not be able to fully participate in Learn & Grow at this time.

You’ve worked hard to achieve your Learn & Grow status.

To honor this work, Learn & Grow announces the following updates to its policies and procedures during the COVID-19 crisis:

  • Learn & Grow will extend program deadlines and timelines as needed to support your continued participation.
  • Your Learn & Grow status will remain active unless your program permanently closes. That means you will continue to be a Learn & Grow program throughout this crisis.
  • thread staff will continue to be there for you, but will be available remotely by phone and/or zoom conferencing. Please consult your thread professional developmental specialist if your program needs assistance with training, renewals, or initial verifications.

As a reminder, all thread trainings are free through the end of June and are available online statewide. Visit thread’s training calendar for available times and topics.

If you have did not receive notification of thread’s COVID-19 Quality Initiative funding, please click here to apply. Funding is on a first come, first serve basis.

Learn & Grow looks forward to working with you during the COVID-19 pandemic.
