Alaska SEED Updates the Early Childhood and School-Age Career Ladder

February 17, 2022

Alaska SEED is excited to announce several important updates to the early childhood/school-age professional career ladder.

The early childhood/school-age career ladder recognizes professional development milestones for Alaska SEED Registry members working in early childhood and school-age education, including military and tribal child care, school district Pre-K and elementary school classrooms (K-3), Head Start/Early Head Start programs, school-age only programs, in-home visiting, and Early Childhood degree-seeking students.

Updates to the career ladder that go into effect immediately include:

  • Removing the high school diploma requirement
  • Adding Associates Degree in an unrelated field with 12 Alaska SEED early childhood related field credits to Level 8.
  • Expanding the list of Alaska SEED early childhood related fields to include Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy.
  • Adapting age requirements to apply to 16-year-olds working or learning in early childhood and school-age settings.
