thread and Cook Inlet Tribal Council (CITC) invite you to earn your Child Development Associate (CDA) credential through an upcoming FREE training series!
CDA Benefits
There are many benefits to earning a CDA! The CDA credential is recognized worldwide and shows your commitment to quality early education. Getting a CDA can expand your job opportunities, increase your income, and grow your confidence. You’ll also strengthen your relationship with the children and families you work with.
This is a special opportunity to invest in your professional development and future. By earning a CDA you are taking the first step towards becoming a program administrator or child care business owner in your community.
Each participant has the opportunity to earn up to $1,000.00 by completing all sessions and achieving their CDA certification.
No partial credit or partial compensation will be given. Participants must complete all sessions and achieve their CDA to receive payment.
Eligibility Requirements
CITC is sponsoring this training opportunity for 10 early educators who:
- Are currently employed, plan to be employed, or volunteer at an early childhood education program
- Are active/current in the Alaska SEED Registry
- Have earned a high school diploma or GED
- Live or work in one of the following communities: in Mat-Su Valley/ Knik, Chickaloon, Eklutna, Kenaitze/Kenai Peninsula, Ninilchik, Seldovia or Tyonek
Support You’ll Receive
This cohort is designed to be more hands-off and asynchronous, allowing participants to work at their own pace to earn a CDA credential by the fall of 2025. It requires a significant amount of independent time and self-motivation to successfully complete the coursework and meet deadlines.
Support you’ll receive includes:
- Free, 1-year membership to ProSolutions Training to complete your CDA training requirements on your own.
- Technical assistance and portfolio development support
- Financial support to cover the CDA application fee ($425).
- A minimum of $1,000 for completing all sessions and achieving a CDA certification. No partial credit or partial compensation will be given. Participants must complete all sessions and achieve their CDA to receive payment.
thread requires a copy of the 120-hr CDA training certificate, and the detailed transcripts from ProSolutions, to be uploaded to the participant’s SEED Registry account & emailed to thread to complete incentive payments.
Participants are required to attend three virtual meetings with thread and have the option to check in with thread at two additional virtual meetings:
- Thursday, January 16, 2025 6 pm – 8 pm: Question & Answer Session (required)
- Tuesday, January 21, 2025, 6 pm – 8 pm: Kick-off Meeting (required)
- Tuesday, March 11, 2025, 6 pm – 8 pm: Technical Assistance Session (optional)
- Tuesday, May 20, 2025, 6 pm – 8 pm: Technical Assistance Session (optional)
- Tuesday, June 3, 2025, 6 pm – 8 pm: Final Meeting (required)
Additional support will be provided to participants to successfully apply for the CDA credential and complete the verification visit and exam.
