Who is eligible to apply for and receive the 2022 Alaska SEED ROOTs Award?

Individuals with a current/active membership in the Alaska SEED Registry; and who are currently employed in a licensed program and are on Career Ladder levels 1-12 are eligible to apply for this award.

Licensed programs are State of Alaska or Municipality of Anchorage licensed childcare facility, licensed Head Start/Early Head Start, licensed Before/Afterschool, or licensed Pre-Elementary School District program.

What is the amount of the 2022 Alaska SEED ROOTs Award?

The 2022 Alaska SEED ROOTs Award is one award amount for everyone at $3,000 per person, regardless of what level you are on the Alaska SEED Career Ladder.

The award recognizes previous and continued employment in the early childhood education field.

Will the award funds impact my personal taxes? How do I estimate my taxes or prepay?

If you receive this award, it is considered personal income for 2022. Please check with the IRS, an accountant, or a tax specialist to understand your personal tax implications.

How long do I have to spend the funds?

There is no time limit by which the award needs be spent. It is important to keep records in the event of an audit.

Will I automatically receive this award if I received the COVID-19 Alaska SEED ROOTs Award? Or do I have to reapply?

All eligible individuals will need to (re)apply. The funding for this award is possible through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA), and therefore requires an application to receive this funding.

Do I need to submit a W-9 with this application?

Yes. Alaska SEED needs a completed and signed W-9 to approve your application. If your W-9 is incomplete or is not attached to your application, Alaska SEED will contact you directly.

If your W-9 is incomplete, you will need to resubmit it. Please follow these steps to ensure your information is accurate:

  • Download the W-9 form here.
  • Complete and sign the W-9 form.
    • Follow the instructions on the form to complete it.
    • You are considered an individual when using this form. Remember to complete the form with your personal information, using your first and last name and your social security number.
  • Attach a completed and signed W-9 form to your application.
How long will it take to process my application?

Alaska SEED will begin reviewing applications on January 3, 2022.

Applications will be processed for payment within 60 days of a complete and approved application while funding lasts.

If your application is missing information, Alaska SEED will contact you via email. You will have an opportunity to complete your application to be considered for approval.

How do I know if my signature is complete and my application was received?

Immediately after you submit your application, you will receive an automatic verification email. Follow these steps to ensure your application is submitted and received:

  1. Check your email inbox or junk email for a verification email from thread. Email Subject will say “Verify: Signed Response for Form.”
  2. Open the email.
  3. Click on the link in the email to verify your signature and submit your application.
  4. You will receive an email with a summary of your application for your records.
How do I know if my Alaska SEED ROOTs Award application is approved?

Once your application has been reviewed and approved for payment, you will receive an email notification from Alaska SEED. This email serves as your approval notification and indicates that your check will be arriving shortly.

Important note: Your final approval will come from Alaska SEED and is not the “Signed Response” summary email you received after submitting your application.

When can I expect to receive my Alaska SEED ROOTs Award?

Alaska SEED will be making payments on approved applications between January and July 2022. Your final approval email will notify you of the expected payment timeframe.

I applied for, or renewed, my Alaska SEED Registry membership. When will I find out if my Registry application is processed?

You will receive an email notification that Alaska SEED has received your Alaska SEED Registry application. Alaska SEED Registry applications are being processed as usual, within 30 business days in the order they are received.

My Alaska SEED Registry application is in review, can I apply for this award?

If your Alaska SEED Registry application is complete and in review by the Alaska SEED team, you can apply for the Alaska SEED ROOTs Award.

How do I check my Alaska SEED Registry membership status or locate my username?

To confirm your membership status in the Alaska SEED Registry, please refer to your most recent Alaska SEED Career Ladder certificate for your expiration date.

If you need to review or update your Registry profile to confirm your membership status, you can easily access your Alaska SEED profile by following the steps below.

Login to your Alaska SEED Profile here.

You will be asked to enter your username and password. If you do not know your Registry username, there are two easy ways you can access your username:

  1. Check your Alaska SEED Registry Certificate for your username. Your username is on the lower left hand corner above your expiration date.
  2. Email Alaska SEED at [email protected] from the email you have on file with your SEED Registry account. The Alaska SEED team can assist you with confirming your username via email. Important note: Your email address must match the email address in your Registry profile in order for Alaska SEED to provide your username via email.

Once logged in, you can update your Registry profile, confirm your membership date, or renew your membership.

I work for a military program licensed by the Department of Defense, do I qualify for this award?

The 2022 Alaska SEED ROOTs Award funding eligibility is for individuals working in a child care facility licensed by the State of Alaska or Municipality of Anchorage. As such, individuals working in a military program licensed by the Department of Defense are not eligible.
