Work Together Wednesday

April 19, 2018

It’s Work Together Wednesday—time to build something together! When children build together, they explore math and science concepts and develop their social and early literacy skills.

Work Together Wednesday during the Week of the Young Child

The process of collaborating with others to create something provides the foundation for skills children will need to succeed as adults in the workplace. Learning to take turns, working as a team, finding solutions, giving and receiving feedback, and getting along with others are all important skills required for a strong workforce.

Today, work with your child to build something, whether it’s a block tower or a pillow fort. You can use all kinds of creative materials. Ask questions to inspire critical thinking, such as “What do you think will happen if we put this here?” Head over to NAEYC.org for more Week of the Young Child Resources.

What did you build with your family or early childhood classroom today? Share it with us on Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #woyc18.
