Help Inform Expulsion & Suspension Policies and Become Eligible for a Quality Initiative & up to $1,000
thread, the State of Alaska Department of Education and Early Development (DEED) and the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority are gathering
data on exclusionary practices, and teacher stress and wellness across early childhood education programs in Alaska. The information we gather will
help to inform new policy recommendations to support you and the children you work with.
If you are a Lead Teacher in a licensed child care program, we need to hear from you!
Take a Survey
To begin gathering this data we have developed a short survey
The voluntary survey focuses on exclusionary practices and teacher stress and wellness. It contains multiple choice and open-ended questions that will
take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.
Individual survey results will be confidential and only reported in a summary of findings.
Survey respondents may be contacted by our survey partner, Raviant LLC, in June to participate in focus groups.
Become Eligible for a Quality Initiative
Licensed child care programs in Alaska, with lead teacher survey completion rates of 80%, are eligible to be selected for a thread Quality Initiative.
Programs will be notified no later than June 7, 2019.
This Quality Initiative includes:
- Financial Award up to $1,000
- Six hours of FREE training for all staff statewide Training will take place on June 10-12 via a Zoom Webinar.
- Topics covered will be:
- Expulsion and suspension
- Evidence based practices to support children’s social emotional development
- Solutions to teacher stress and wellness
- Identifying technical assistance (TA) for your program

Must complete the entire survey to be eligible for the Quality Initiative drawing.
