Congress to Propose New Child C.A.R.E. Act

February 5, 2016

Today Senator Bob Casey (D-Pa.) along with Representatives Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.) and Lois Frankel (D-Fla.) announced plans to introduce new legislation to help more families afford high-quality child care. The Child Care Access to Resources for Early-learning Act (Child C.A.R.E. Act) would provide $25 billion to boost the Child Care Development Block Grant. The bill will:

  • support quality improvement in early care & learning programs,
  • help families with young children living at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level gain access to high-quality child care, and
  • ensure that child care provider payment rates are high enough to support quality child care and fair wages for early care & learning professionals.
