Alaska SEED, in partnership with thread and the State of Alaska Child Care Program Office (CCPO), is excited to announce plans for the Alaska SEED ROOTs (Retaining Our Outstanding Teachers) Award in 2022.
The 2022 Alaska SEED ROOTs Award application is anticipated to open in December 2021 and will be available on the Alaska SEED, thread and Learn & Grow websites. Alaska SEED will be working with thread, as the intermediary, to facilitate the 2022 application process and distribute the awards, with CCPO as the lead agency.
Funding for the 2022 Alaska SEED ROOTs Award is possible from the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSA). This award recognizes Alaska’s early childhood and school-age educator’s professionalism and commitment to providing safe, healthy and playful child care during the pandemic and beyond.
The 2022 Alaska SEED ROOTs will be available to individuals who (1) have a current membership in the Alaska SEED Registry, and (2) are working in a licensed/regulated child care or school-age program. Additional eligibility guidelines will be announced at the application opening.
Early childhood and school-age educators who successfully meet the eligibility guidelines and complete the application will receive $2,080. Early childhood and school-age educators at Level 6 and above on the Alaska SEED Career Ladder will receive an additional $500 professional development award for a total of $2,580. The award may be used for professional or personal use.
