A Relationship-Based Professional Development (RBPD) Specialist provides technical assistance, consultation, and coaching to early childhood and school-age professionals to help them thrive in their careers. This credential ensures RBPD Specialists have the knowledge and skills to offer guidance, encouragement, and tailored support to educators to help improve the quality of early care and learning in Alaska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alaska’s four-tiered RBPD Credential System is designed to help individuals progress in their careers while strengthening the overall quality of early childhood and school-age education across the state. The four tiers are progressive, meaning applicants must complete the first before moving to the next. The system includes the following levels:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Entry-level role focusing on providing technical assistance to early childhood and school-age educators.
<\/p>
A higher level that involves offering in-depth consultation services, helping professionals improve their practice through feedback and advice.
<\/p>
This role involves hands-on coaching and mentoring to support teachers in the classroom, promote best practices, and improve teaching effectiveness.
<\/p>
The highest level focused on working with programs and organizations to improve overall systems, strategies, and structures to support teachers and staff.
<\/p>
Alaska SEED will begin accepting applications for RBPD I \u2013 III in September 2025. Get started now with one-time funding\u2014for those who apply before November 15, 2025\u2014and support<\/strong> to help you pursue the RBPD Specialist Credential. These supports are available from November 2024 to November 2025<\/strong> and include several key opportunities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n This is a recurring opportunity to connect with fellow RBPD professionals, share case presentations, and engage in reflective facilitation to support your coaching skills and competencies. You\u2019ll also have the chance to earn mentor coaching hours<\/strong>. This is an opportunity to receive personalized assistance with assessing your progress toward meeting RBPD criteria and understanding the credentialing process. Various training opportunities will be available to support your RBPD coaching skills and early childhood content knowledge. Be sure to check the RBPD Coaching and Early Childhood (EC) Content Training Description Document<\/strong> for more information.<\/p> After December 2025, the RBPD credentialing process will remain available, but funding and monthly peer-to-peer groups will depend on securing individual funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These resources are designed to support you through each stage of the RBPD credentialing process and provide you with the tools you need to succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Expand the sections below to learn about the eligibility and requirements for each RBPD Specialist level and to access each application form. Support implementation of ECE program expectations, policies, and procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Types of support may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n The following documents will be required to complete this application:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Note: You must complete RBPD I to move onto RBPD II or III.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n The RBPD II Specialist utilizes coaching strategies to create a collaborative partnership that supports reflective problem solving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Provide collaborative, reflective support and guidance to practitioners around Tier I\/Promotional & Tier II\/Prevention ECE best practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Types of support may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n *Qualified Reflective Supervision = someone who has met one of the following qualifications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n **Qualified Mentor Coaching = someone who has met one of the following qualifications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n The following documents will be required to complete this application:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Note: You must complete RBPD I to move onto this application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n The RBPD III facilitates a coaching cycle of plan, do, study, act (PDSA) to empower continuous professional and\/or program growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Provide group or 1:1 coaching including goal setting, action planning, observation, reflection, and feedback. Consider Tier I, II, and III supports, along with individual child and program data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Types of support may include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n *Qualified Reflective Supervision = someone who has met one of the following qualifications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n **Qualified Mentor Coaching = someone who has met one of the following qualifications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n The following documents will be required to complete this application:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Note: You must complete RBPD I and RBPD II to move onto this application.<\/p>\n\n\n\nMonthly Peer-to-Peer Group<\/strong><\/h4><\/div>
